1. Does the ADAPTE resource toolkit for guideline adaptation contains a tool for the assessment of the guideline content?

The PIPOH tool, included in the ADAPTE Resource Toolkit, has been designed to assess the guideline content. Also, the step is well described and covered and the ADAPTE resource toolkit provides you with a table for summarising the guideline content as well as a checklist of the adapted guideline content. Nevertheless, no tool such as the AGREE instrument has been developed.

2. Are there certain criteria for selecting the CPGs' source rather than the guideline itself? Is there an appraisal from the source of the guideline rather than the guideline itself?

Although the tools provided by the ADAPTE Collaboration include a list of websites and clearinghouse which could be searched to retrieve guidelines, it does not provide criteria for selection of the osurce of the guidelines. The proposed websites provide general reliable information however, the website or the organisation is not a quarantie for the quality of a single guideline. Therefore, it is essential to assess each retrieved guideline rather than the information sources. To screen through the retrieved guidelines, the ADAPTE Collaboration rellies on the AGREE Instrument but not only. Indeed, the ADAPTE Resource Toolkit proposes tools to assess the currency of the guidelines, their content, their consistency and the acceptability and applicability of the recommendations. Also, the ADAPTE process and its supporting reource toolkit have been developed to introduce flexibility so as to adapt to the needs of the organisation/group wishing to use the adaptation of guidelines.

3. Does the ADAPTE process save time and resources?

This is unknown at the moment. That is why we need to evaluate this in our evaluation study. What can be expected is that time and efforts are related to the number of questions and the number of guidelines that will be assessed. Saving time will depend on whether the group is able to focus on the key issues and on the availability of one or two recent high-quality guidelines.
