Guidelines are “systematically developed statements about specific clinical problems intented to assist practitioners and patients in making decisions about appropriate health care”. Ref: Institute of Medicine. Guidelines for clinical practice: from development to use. Edited by: Field MJ Lohr KN. Washington, DC: National Academy Press; 1992

The development and updating of high-quality practice guidelines to promote optimal, consistent health care requires substantial resources. Most organisations face pressure to produce more guidelines in a shorter time with increasingly limited resources. Guideline adaptation reduces duplication by taking advantage of existing guidelines.

The ADAPTE Collaboration has developed a systematic approach for the adaptation of guidelines produced for use in one cultural and organisational context to be used in a different cultural and organisational context.

THE ADAPTE COLLABORATION AND THE GUIDELINES INTERNATIONAL NETWORK

The ADAPTE collaboration has achieved its goal of developing the ADAPTE framework, manual and tools.

The ADAPTE collaboration and the Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) have agreed that the dissemination and further work on adaptation methodology will be undertaken under the G-I-N banner : http://www.g-i-n.net/activities/adaptation-working-group

Nevertheless, the ADAPTE collaboration is pursuing the initial evaluation of ADAPTE that is still ongoing.

Any inquiry regarding the ADAPTE evaluation study or the use of ADAPTE should be sent to http://www.g-i-n.net/contact-us

You may download the last version of the ADAPTE toolkit on http://www.g-i-n.net/activities/adaptation-working-group

There are mainly layout differences between versions 1 and 2. However, version 2 is within the same framework as version 1 and the tools are unchanged.

Dear ADAPTE user,

The evaluation study of the ADAPTE framework and its tools was launched in June, 2007.
The inclusion of new participants was officially closed on 1st September, 2009. Nevertheless, it is still possible to subscribe as a new user and fill in the questionnaires.

Now, the ADAPTE Manual and the ADAPTE Toolkit may be downloaded without any registration (click on "read more" at the bottom of this page, and then on "pdf download")

We sincerely thank all those who have taken part to the study and we encourage those who did not fully complete the study to fill in the remaining questionnaires, using their login (email address) and password (if lost, click on "password reminder"). If you have any question about this, please, send an email to contact@adapte.org.
